Objects With Faces-Hydrant-esque Thing Always Does a Solid Job

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea what this is. But I do know that I got to use the suffix “-esque” AND make a pun in the same headline, and so I frankly do not care one bit.

  1. Jon says:

It does appear to be the modern version of a fire hydrant.

  2. Captain Ned says:

Not a fire hydrant. First, there’s no valve to turn on the water. Second, the plate says “standpipe”. Ergo, this is a standpipe, or a “reverse fire hydrant”. A fire truck will hook hoses to it and pump water into it for use in fighting fires in the building to which it is attached. All modern commercial buildings have them, though usually hanging directly off one of the outside walls.

  3. um….what is the pun?

  4. its a somewhat solid object and is therefore doing a “solid” job
