Oh boy oh boy oh boy mail’s here! This is the best part of the day!

Well, except when it’s just junk and bills. Too much starch and fat in one sitting, you know? But Wednesdays are good mail days. Wednesdays are usually… oh, here it comes, wait for it…

YES! SAFEWAY COUPONS FTW! Omnomnom!

Editor’s Note: Thanks to our commenters who noted that this happy nommer is not in fact a mail slot, but more likely the unstrung bridge of an acoustic guitar. Now let’s try this again…

Too bad that isn’t a mail slot. It’s a guitar bridge with no strings.

  2. Mary says:

Yeah… I’m pretty sure that’s a Guitar bridge, not a mail slot. Just sayin.

  3. Raxim Koron says:

Epic fail, that’s an acoustic guitar bridge.

  4. Chris says:

Looks like it’s the bridge on an acoustic guitar to me.

  5. StrangeRover says:

Awesome. However, that’s not a mail slot. It’s the bridge of an acoustic guitar.

  6. HooDoo says:

Nice, but that’s the saddle of an unstrung old acoustic guitar 🙂

  7. rokusho0100 says:

  9. bubbs says:

am i the only one who sees not a mail slot, but the bridge of a guitar?

  10. Ron Moses says:

I’m pretty sure that’s a guitar bridge, no?

  11. TC says:

I could e wrong, but I’m fairly certain that this is not a mail slot- it looks like the bridge on an acoustic guitar.

  12. >.> says:

    this is a guitar bridge.

  13. HeadHunter67 says:

There’s no saddle for the strings to set into and the bridge would be an odd place for a sound hole from a structural perspective.

Furthermore, the wood grain is totally wrong for a guitar. Looks more like the back of a chair. Anyone who thinks it’s a guitar is welcome to link a pic to prove it.

    • Ron Moses says:

The white piece is the saddle — not all saddles have grooves, see this image:

That’s not a sound hole. The strings are inserted through holes in the back of the bridge (the top in the posted image) and poke through holes in that slot (not visible in the image). Here is a less-than-perfect example that should suffice:

Here’s a guitar with similar wood grain:

I hate to be that guy in the crowd that thinks he knows it all, but……I do, at least about this.

This is the bridge from an Oscar Schimdt, concert size, koa wood, ukulele. Model OU-5.
